Aid Types

  • Federal Pell Grant -Federal Pell Grants usually are awarded only to undergraduate students who display exceptional financial need and have not earned a bachelor's, graduate, or professional degree. (In some cases, however, a student enrolled in a postbaccalaureate teacher certification program might receive a Federal Pell Grant.) You are not eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant if you are incarcerated in a federal or state penal institution or are subject to an involuntary civil commitment upon completion of a period of incarceration for a forcible or nonforcible sexual offense.

    You may not receive Federal Pell Grant funds from more than one school at a time. You should start by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. Schools use the information on the FAFSA® form to determine your eligibility for a Pell Grant, and if so, how much you’re eligible to receive. You will have to fill out the  every year you’re in school in order to stay eligible for , including Pell Grant awards. Amounts can change yearly. The maximum Federal Pell Grant award is $6,895 for the 2022–23  (July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023).

  • Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) - Awarded to undergraduate students who have exceptional financial need and who have not earned a bachelor’s or graduate degree. To receive student must submit .

    • A private scholarship is a financial aid award that is funded by various organizations such as companies, service groups, foundations, and individuals. 

 provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with , allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study.

An internship is an opportunity offered by an employer for individuals to gain real-world work experience. These programs are typically targeted towards students, who will work with a company for a period of time, ranging from a few weeks to several months with the goal of gaining practical on-the-job or research experience.

It is important to note that each internship is unique. Some interns work part-time, while others work full-time. The duration of an internship can vary greatly, from a week to a year. There are internships available for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students, as well as virtual internships. Additionally, internships may be paid or unpaid, and some may even provide course credit.

  • Federal Direct Subsidized Loan
  • Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan - 
    • Direct Unsubsidized Loans are loans made to eligible undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, but eligibility is not based on financial need.

 

Direct PLUS Loans are loans made to graduate or professional students and parents of dependent undergraduate students to help pay for education expenses not covered by other financial aid. Eligibility is not based on financial need, but a credit check is required. Borrowers who have an  must meet additional requirements to qualify.

Private loans that are offered through lenders such as banks, credit unions or state agencies. These are chosen by you the student.

  • Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grants: If you meet the requirements above but are not eligible for a Pell Grant based on your EFC, you will be eligible to receive the Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant. The maximum amount of the Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant is the same as the maximum Pell Grant award. Your EFC will not be affected, and therefore neither will your eligibility for any  .
